Everyone who works in the wedding industry knows that it’s easier for a wedding day to go smoothly when you have great planning and quality vendors. Our recommended vendors list has been curated over the course of 10+ years (wow, time flies!) During that time, we have worked with a LOT of vendors around the area, within the state, and across the United States. Below I’ve written about some of our absolute favorites. If you are planning a wedding (or other event), I would highly recommend that you give one of these qualified professionals a call!
Venues:
Cedar Falls:
Hilton Garden Inn – These guys do a fantastic job of making sure that your guests will have quality service, excellent food (their appetizers are out of this world!), and excellent pacing. Their facility is beautiful and they also have a great little outdoor patio space as well, with fire pits! Highly Recommended.
University of Northern Iowa – My alma mater! Every time that one of my brides tells me that they are getting married at UNI I’m thrilled. The campus is gorgeous so there are a ridiculous number of options for great photos. The Slife Ballroom is probably my absolute favorite place in the area for a reception, the huge windows and old world feel are second to none, but they also have several other great options!
Waterloo:
Elk’s Lodge – This space is a bit of a surprise, you don’t expect a building that seems so small to house what is probably my favorite venue in all of Waterloo. The staff and service are excellent and the space is perfectly suited for a wedding reception. I don’t know why, but the parties here always seem to be the best!
Waverly:
Prairie Links Country Club – If you are looking for great service, this is the place to be. They really have a top notch staff who are always willing to help! They have options for ceremony and reception, both inside and outside, and have an amazing open door option! It truly needs to be seen to be believed. Stop by and check them out!
Caterers:
Moment in Thyme – My mouth is watering just thinking about the last time we ate their food! Soooo good. Stop by and give them a try!
Bakeries:
Kathy’s Kakes – Some of the most delicious cakes you will find anywhere! Her buttercream is the best around!
Cakes by Isabel – These cakes are absolutely gorgeous! If you are looking for a cake that is as much art as food, you NEED to give Isabel a call. She will hook you up with something spectacular (that I can photograph!)
Scratch Cupcakery – Everyone in the area knows about Scratch and there is a reason for that! If you are looking for something a little different than a traditional wedding cake, Scratch Cupcakes will NOT let you down. (Also, ask them for the Strawberry Margarita. If enough people ask for it maybe they will put it back on the menu and it was my favorite!)
Misc.:
White Flyers Dove Releases – There is nothing quite so elegant as a dove release at your wedding! It’s definitely something that sets a ceremony apart from the crowd and Frank and Pam are great to work with. They have a ton of great options, different birds, etc. You should give them a ring if you are looking for something different!
